Delete your account
You can delete your DelbarMe account and personal data at any time. There are two ways to do it.
1. From inside the app (fastest)
- Open DelbarMe on your phone.
- Go to the Profile tab.
- Tap the settings icon in the top right.
- Scroll down and tap Delete my account.
- Confirm. Your account is scheduled for deletion.
2. By email (if you no longer have access to the app)
Send an email to hello@delbarme.com with the subject "Account deletion request" from the email address you registered with. We will confirm within one business day and complete deletion within 30 days.
What we delete
The following personal data is erased permanently:
- Your account (email, password, date of birth).
- Your profile: name, bio, photos, voice intro, values, origin, language, structured attributes.
- Your posts, postcards, and comments.
- Your voice invites (Ashnayi) and any matches created from them.
- All chat messages you sent, including text, voice clips, and image attachments.
- Your halqa memberships, posts you made inside halqas, and any halqas you created (halqas you created stay only if other members are still active; we transfer ownership).
- Your likes, saves, connections, and reactions.
- Your public encryption key. Your private key never leaves your device.
What we may retain
A small set of items is kept for the periods listed below, because we are required by law to keep them or because they protect other users:
- Moderation and safety logs: up to 24 months after deletion, so we can defend against repeat abuse from banned accounts.
- Child-safety reports (CSAM) and related evidence: retained as required by law, reported to NCMEC (United States) and Kripos (Norway).
- Accounting records: 5 years (Norwegian Bookkeeping Act, bokføringsloven §13). Applies only if you made a purchase; the current app is free to use.
Timeline
Once you request deletion:
- Your account is marked inactive immediately. Others cannot find you in Ashnayi, in halqas, or in search.
- Your data is erased within 30 days.
- The retained items above continue to exist for the listed period, then are erased.
